Maharashtra Clears Mumbai Slum Redevelopment Plan

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a major plan to redevelop slum clusters in Mumbai into modern, integrated housing projects. The scheme, to be implemented by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), aims to improve living conditions, boost infrastructure, and attract private investment. It is also expected to create new jobs in construction and related sectors.

The Cabinet also cleared a statewide sewage treatment and reuse policy for 424 cities to promote sustainable urban growth and a circular economy by recycling wastewater.

Other key decisions include:

  • Allocating 2.38 hectares in Amravati for an e-bus depot under the PM-E Bus Scheme.
  • Extending the career progression scheme to non-teaching staff at 980 aided ashram schools for OBC and sugarcane workers’ children.
  • Setting up a new senior civil court in Akole, Ahilyanagar.
  • Amending the land consolidation law to prevent land fragmentation.
